THE SIMPLE FACTSTM...Risperdal® (Risperidone) - manfactured by Janssen Pharmaceutica, Inc. - is an atypical antipsychotic. Antipsychotic medicines/medication (e.g., Zyprexa and Seroquel) are used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia. Unfortunately, there have been reports that patients taking the drug Risperdal may be at increased risk of symptoms and side effects including hyperglycemia, ketoacidosis, diabetes, pancreatitis, stroke, death, withdrawal and other health concerns.
In 2004, the FDA asked all manufacturers of atypical antipsychotic medication/medications to add a warning statement describing the increased risk of hyperglycemia and diabetes in patients taking these medications.
If you were taking the drug Risperdal on or before August 2004, and have developed hyperglycemia, diabetes mellitus
ketoacidosis, hyperosmolar coma or death or other symptoms or side effects and/or health problems, you may have a lawsuit/case and be entitled to compensation.
